We have been working with Forest coffee for a couple of years. We've featured a number of their lots as well, however I've always been left wanting for more. I began to ask more questions to help me find the cup I've been desperately looking for. Santiago Carvajal Posada met the task with a smile and assured me we could find the perfect Colombian offering for our coffee program. After dozens of sample roasts and cuppings I get a text from Santiago stating, "I've found it"! He sent me a gorgeous picture of the estate and told me that the farmers are indigenous growers, cultivating incredible coffee on their ancestral home land in Planadas. The need for a consistent buyer for these people has been met by us here at Picacho. We didn't just buy a few bags, we contracted the entire lot! The search for my coveted Colombian cup of sunshine has finally been found.

The Nasa We'sx are a Colombian indigenous tribe from the ancestral territory of Planadas, located in the southern part of the Tolima department. During the latter half of the twentieth century, this community was significantly affected by the Colombian armed conflict. More than 25 years ago, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and this community signed a local peace agreement, and subsequently, in 2016, the Colombian Government and the insurgent group signed the Final Agreement for Ending the Conflict and Building a Stable and Lasting Peace.

Today, with support provided by Forest Coffee and Forest Academy the world's most exceptional coffees are cultivated in these lands, promoted by a coalition of indigenous people and coffee leaders who work day by day to grow the community

This fantastic lot excels as a single origin espresso and is excellent as a pour over. We are thrilled to work with the Nasa We'sx indigenous growers of this region and to highlight the extraordinary quality of this project.
